Oh, I am so excited for this! We are hosting a dog adoption in the store on June 13th from 1-5 with the wonderful company, Found My Animal. And for all of you who know me well, or don't even know me so well, I LOVE the doggies. Too bad we can't get another. Please, can we get another. Yes, I'm talking to you.

10% Women
So, here she is. My indecision (and utter awe) forced me to put up three photos of Chantal Sutherland. I really wanted to put up a hundred of her because once I started looking I couldn't stop. She's an amazing jockey, doing her best in a sport that is only 10% women. To quote her, "Long term I want to be in the Derby, and I want to be in the Breeders' Cup. I'm looking for those horses and praying and asking the universe that it will show me the way and find those horses for me. I love this game, and I want those experiences. I just love what I do. I love when you are on a horse that just wants to run and they are true warriors and champions. It's so inspiring"
And so are you, Chantal. I can't get enough of this story.

Acne Summer Hits!
Sunday Morning Cravings
This is what I woke up thinking about this morning. This and the smoked salmon hash at The Heathman Hotel in Portland. Egg, in Brooklyn offers the above, Eggs Rothko, and is considerably easier to get to, but I definitely would have taken an early flight just to get to that salmon hash. It's the first place that John and I go when we arrive in Portland. Our family thinks we're crazy; we think we just happen to be very, very smart. But when you can't get there, the Eggs Rothko are magical as well. Try either, they won't disappoint. That is, if you're into breakfast and that sort of thing. As it worked out, I had a smoothie and an Americano.
Not the worst substitute, but definitely no hash or Rothko.

If my whole life could be like this...
Spring cleaning is happening around Castor & Pollux and what better way to start off than with a perfectly organized, chic wallet. These really are the best; I always say that I wish everything in my life were as organized as this wallet and my refrigerator (my therapy for hard days is categorizing my fridge into ethnic zones), we all have our own ways of winding down. This will fit everything from credit cards, fountain pens, pictures of god-sons, checkbooks, and with a bit of use and time an iPhone. Just be patient with the stretching out of it, you want to work it in like a good saddle. Don't overdo it right away, patience is key here. They come in a lovely array of colors: red, orange, teal, yellow (as shown), purple, navy, black, grey, toast and rust.
